When fishing with lead core line for trout, bass, walleye or salmon know more "Precisely” depth you're trolling.

Lead Core line is an inexpensive way to get down to the deep water depths where fish are located. The line is marked with different colors, each ten yards in length. Colors indicate amount of line out, this along with trolling speed and lure weight determine lure depth. This App insures depth accuracy and precision trolling increases catch.

Basic rules of feet in depth per color and incomplete charts lack accuracy needed. If you vary trolling speed for best results or control on windy days it makes a difference in depth when using lead core line. This App displays the effect of such changes and provides the needed adjustment of line out for trolling depth accuracy.

I’ve been told by experience fishermen to just figure 5 feet depth for every color you let out, so why do I need an App.

My Answer
I used this general rule for years, but knew it just wasn’t accurate. Tests revealed 18lb test with 5 colors out trolling 1.8 mph, and 2.7 mph results in 17 feet difference and 3 colors out at 1.6 mph, and 2.6 mph had an 11.6 feet difference. At slower trolling speeds changes of a few tenths in speed can have a substantial change in depth and adjustment in colors out becomes crucial.

Over 150 actual depth readings were used, and taken from a range of .7 to 4.0 mph.
Current version is my best effort to achieve trolling precision. Easy to use and ensures improved trolling depth accuracy. Using it has substantially increased my total catches, and it’s one of my most depended on fishing tools.

How to Use

Enter speed, and desired depth and App displays required colors out. Or enter colors out and see your current depth. Also you can change entered trolling speed to see the resulting impact in depth.

Lead Core Brand Customizing Compensator

Using a different brand Core and depth per color is different – NOT A PROBLEM!
If you know the actual depth at any given color out at trolling speed of 2.5 MPH, enter 2.5 MPH and colors out into App. Take the difference in depth of the App display and the known depth of your brand and divide by the numbers of colors. Click App Setting, select compensator and enter your established difference. If you brand depth was greater adjust the closest amount.15 to 3.50. If your brand depth was less adjust to closest minus amount -.10 to -3.75. The new setting is permanent until you change it or return to default setting 0.0 feet. Brand Customizing Compensator uses sink rate curve in relation to speed which brings your brand within usable accuracy.

Auto GPS Speed

Enter basics, and amount of colors out, then activate the Auto GPS Speed feature to monitor depth as speed changes. This feature has built in averaging, and auto restart interval to better match the actual changes in Lead Core Depth.

Note: GPS accuracy is dependent on your device/phone GPS Satellite acquisition accuracy and suited for extremely calm days only.

Speech On

Turning Speech On will voice your expected depth or required colors out in standard mode and when activated with Auto GPS Speed Mode – Speech On starts announcing Depth and continues announcing in the set adjustable interval, keeping you informed of changes in depth in relation to your speed for complete hands off use.

Sink Rate Lost Factor
Sink rate curl is fairly consistent up until 4 colors out and then some gradual flat line effect occurs.
For improved accuracy if when colors out exceeds 3.9 colors turn on Sink Rate Lost Factor On.
(Use Only with Colors Out or Auto GPS Mode.)

App reviewed on regular basis for improvements.
