Hooked on porn. I was hooked on porn as a teenager leading into adulthood. Many of us are. I had a special browser for my bad habits and made sure to leave no tracks. Porn wrecked my relationship with my beloved wife Evelyn. My life was full of secrets and I felt unworthy of my wife’s love. My porn use negatively affected me emotionally and physically. I felt like a liar. I even brought my bad habits to my workplace. No accountability wrecked my life.

March 21, 2017. Woke up and decided enough was enough. I confessed to Evelyn and promised to share my digital habits with her. It took her sometime to come to terms with the news. She broke down. My heart sank. I’ve never seen her cry like that, ever. It put a huge dent in our relationship. But through it all, she wasn’t judgemental. She listened and offered to hold me accountable. I’m the luckiest man on earth to have the most gracious and loving wife.

That’s when I created Trustablee. Other accountability apps are dated and only show bits and pieces of text. They are also expensive. It feels more like an honest date with Evelyn and I feel so much freedom, trust, and love every Fridays. It’s the second best promise I’ve ever made to my wife after saying “I Do”.

Our son Tim. We use Trustablee to get visibility into Tim's digital choices. We have weekly open-ended chats about his digital habits and it is some of the most fruitful and effective ways for us to teach him what it means to be accountable. Forcing children to use filtering and blocking doesn’t work well at all. It backfires and breaks trust. While we cannot shield our kids from the outside world, we can always teach them to make good life choices. Evelyn and I have found that lessons learned through Trustablee has also translated into other parts of Tim’s life.

I am now 7 months clean and have no regrets confessing my bad habits to Evelyn and making the decision to be accountable to Evelyn.
